Internships provide young professionals with valuable insight into the business world beyond the classroom. Today’s interns seek inclusive environments and meaningful, hands-on experience. They’re not just here to take notes or fetch coffee—they’re here to learn and grow.
That’s why we’ve designed our internship program to closely mirror the responsibilities of an entry-level accountant at our firm. Interns gain exposure to all facets of accounting and client services, preparing them for real-world success from day one.
We aim for our interns to complete the program feeling confident and well-equipped for their next step—whether that means continuing their journey with us or pursuing opportunities elsewhere in the industry.
“We are committed to providing a top-notch educational experience when you join our team. We invest in time, training, and continuous performance feedback to keep our interns continuously learning and striving towards success. We understand and value your need for real-life experience, and we are here to provide it and support you.” -Amy Rohlman, HR Director
But don’t just take it from us! We sat down with a few of our recent interns to discuss their experience. Here’s what they had to say…
MRPR Intern Q&A Session
Describe the kind of firm you were looking for in your internship and how MRPR met your requirements.
Emily Willett, Intern during tax season 2024, fall 2024, and tax season 2025, fall 2025: I was looking for a firm who would be flexible with my class schedule so I would be able to prioritize my education while gaining internship experience. MRPR was very flexible, allowing me to work odd hours during the week to get work and school done.
Lauren Niday, Intern during tax season 2025: I wanted to work in a small to moderate size firm so that it would be easier to communicate with coworkers, and MRPR was a perfect fit for me! Everyone is friendly and always willing to collaborate and help.
Anna May, Intern during tax season 2025 and joined full time in 2025: I was looking for a firm that works with a variety of clients and industries, but is small enough that I won’t have to worry about getting lost in the shuffle.
In your first few weeks, what stood out to you about the people who worked there?
Emily: The people are very friendly and welcoming. Everyone really gets to know each other and seems to care about each other.
Lauren: The staff at MRPR are always happy to help, regardless of what position they hold in the company.
Vincent Shaw, Intern during tax season 2025 and fall 2025: The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I did not come across anyone I felt uncomfortable around. The monthly staff appreciation lunches were a great way for me to get to know more of the staff.
Anna: Everyone is approachable and willing to answer questions. I noticed that a lot of people have worked here a long time, which I think is a sign that people are happy in the workplace.
What were your goals for your internship with MRPR and were you able to achieve them?
Emily: My goals were to learn more about tax and be able to complete more complex tax returns. I was able to achieve these with help from various staff who gave me more complex returns to work on and answered my questions.
Benjamin Mundt, Intern during tax season 2025 and joined full time in 2025: My main goal for this internship was finding a CPA firm that I can invest my time into long term as I work to get my CPA. I can say for certain that I would love to work at MRPR in the future. The friendly environment, good work ethic, and constructive feedback have made MRPR a great place to work.
Vincent: I found myself creating more and greater goals as I progressed through the internship. At first, I wanted to familiarize myself with the different type of software our company would use, then I wanted to try and learn/ get comfortable with more types of returns, and finally, I wanted to get efficient at completing clients each shift.
What advice would you give someone looking for an accounting internship at MRPR?
Emily: Don’t be afraid to ask questions and don’t be afraid to come into this not knowing much about accounting because you learn so much during the internship.
Benjamin: Go for it. MRPR gave me a chance. I’m so glad they did. I have learned so much from when I started.
What would you tell your friends and family about working at MRPR?
Emily: It is a very welcoming, warm atmosphere. People here have a good work life balance and the work we do is satisfying.
Vincent: I would tell my friends and family I was very proud to work for MRPR, as well as all the knowledge and experience I gained while working with them.
