Job Description

A long-term leadership position of the MRPR tax department, requiring compatibility with and support of MRPR’s culture. The Sr. Tax Manager will be a highly ethical, tax centered CPA responsible for tax research, planning and compliance for closely-held businesses in a variety of industries. This role will involve direct, primary contact with clients along with managing the tax department and being responsible for the development and training of MRPR staff. In addition, this position expects activity in professional circles and new business development.

 

Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • Masters degree in Taxation, a plus

Experience:

  • At least ten (10) plus years tax experience with a public accounting firm
  • Experience in corporate, flow-through entity and individual federal and state taxation
  • Experience consistent with MRPRs services and client base (see www.mrpr.com for details on client base)

License/Certifications:

  • CPA certification required

Software:

  • Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat
  • Tax research database and planning tools (CCH, Checkpoint, BNA or comparable)
  • Tax compliance software (ProSystem Fx products or comparable), including paperless engagement software.

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Supervisory and training experience and capacity to work well in a team environment (clients of MRPR are clients of MRPR and not of the individual)
    Strong written and oral communication skills with clients and Firm members
  • Research skills, including interpretation of laws and regulations and how to apply them in client situations and fact patterns (the decision maker on client tax issues)
  • Ability to compose written tax advice
  • Strategic planning for clients and potential clients
